Junior Marketing Coordinator
About The Role
The Junior Marketing and Sales Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support within the marketing function while also assisting with selected sales supportactivities. This is a junior role intended for a motivated employee who is eager to learn and build practical experience in marketing coordination, client engagement, sales support, lead generation, and business development support.
The role requires a person who is organised, professional, confident in communication, and able to work in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will support the Marketing Manager with internal and external marketing activities, assist with prospect research, compile client and lead lists for the sales team, conduct follow ups, and from time to time engage in client outreach, including cold calling, under guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Administration and Coordination- Assist with the day to day administration of marketing activities and projects.
- Maintain organised records of marketing plans, campaign documents, supplier details, quotations, invoices, approvals, and client related marketing information.
- Track deadlines for campaigns, content calendars, events, promotions, and related tasks.
- Coordinate meetings, follow ups, and communication linked to marketing and sales support tasks.
- Support the Marketing Manager with general administrative duties linked to the marketing function.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Support the implementation of digital and traditional marketing initiatives.
- Help prepare campaign briefs, schedules, checklists, and progress updates.
- Assist with drafting basic marketing content for social media, email communication, promotional material, and internal communication.
- Ensure that marketing material aligns with company branding and messaging guidelines.
- Assist with proofreading and checking content for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and consistency.
- Research potential clients, markets, industries, and business opportunities to support the sales team.
- Compile prospect and lead lists with accurate contact details and relevant business information for use by the sales team.
- Maintain and update sales contact databases, lead trackers, and follow up schedules.
- Assist in identifying target clients based on business requirements and campaign focus.
- Prepare call lists and prospecting information for the sales team.
- Support sales activities by helping organise leads according to area, industry, or priority.
- Conduct follow up calls to existing or potential clients as required.
- Assist with cold calling and introductory calls to prospective clients under guidance.
- Follow up on marketing campaigns, proposals, meetings, and business opportunities.
- Confirm appointments, gather preliminary client information, and escalate qualified opportunities to the relevant sales team member.
- Maintain professional telephone and email communication with clients and prospects at all times.
- Travel to clients from time to time for meetings, presentations, follow ups, activations, and relationship building where required.
- Support the Marketing Manager and sales team during client visits and external engagements.
- Assist with preparing information, presentation packs, branded material, and supporting documents for client meetings.
- Represent the organisation professionally during client interactions and off site engagements.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of events, activations, presentations, and promotional campaigns.
- Liaise with suppliers, venues, and service providers regarding bookings, branding material, and event requirements.
- Prepare event checklists, attendance lists, branding items, and promotional packs.
- Attend events and activations when required to support setup, coordination, and execution.
- Assist with post event administration and reporting.
- Liaise professionally with suppliers, designers, printers, clients, and service providers.
- Follow up on quotations, deliveries, artwork, branded items, and deadlines.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure communication is clear, timely, and professional.
- Conduct market and competitor research to support marketing and sales initiatives.
- Gather information on customer trends, client needs, and business opportunities.
- Assist with campaign reporting, lead tracking, and follow up reporting.
- Prepare simple summaries and reports on outreach activities, lead generation efforts, and client responses.
- Actively participate in training and development within the marketing and sales support function.
- Build practical knowledge of marketing principles, sales support, lead generation, client communication, branding, and customer engagement.
- Develop confidence and competence to take on more responsibility as experience grows.
- Accept coaching, correction, and mentoring as part of professional growth.
By the end of the role period, the junior employee should be able to:

Minimum Requirements:
- South African unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
- Matric Certificate (with results).
- Completed a Diploma or Degree in Marketing,
- Communications, Public Relations, Business, Sales, or a related field.
- Strong interest in marketing, client engagement, and business development.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident telephone manner and ability to speak professionally with clients.
- Good organisational and administrative ability.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and marketing communication.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- Willingness to learn, take instruction, and grow within the role.
Advantageous:
- Basic knowledge of digital marketing and sales support processes.
- Previous exposure to marketing, promotions, customer engagement, telesales, or administration.
- Experience with content writing, event support, lead generation, or client follow ups.
- Knowledge of Canva, design tools, CRM systems, or content scheduling platforms.
- Valid drivers licence.
