The Role: Operations Manager (Electrical)
The purpose of this role is to lead and oversee MV and LV electrical projects from the planning stage through to execution and commissioning. The position exists to drive operational efficiency, ensure compliance with safety standards, and manage cross-functional technical teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.This role contributes to the business by identifying operational risks and implementing mitigation strategies while maintaining quality control and fault analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee MV and LV electrical projects from planning through execution and commissioning.
- Manage and coordinate cross-functional technical teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.
- Drive operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and cost-control initiatives.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Support, mentor, and develop technical and supervisory staff.
- Oversee quality control, testing, fault analysis, and commissioning activities.
- Proven experience in Medium Voltage Switchgear and Protection Systems, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Proven experience in Low Voltage Switchboard assemblies, building, installation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of MV & LV electrical infrastructure development, including overhead lines and underground cable systems.
- In-depth understanding of electrical safety regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience within a technical or electrical environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and cost control (Advantageous).
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or utilities environments (Advantageous).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and technical drawings (Advantageous).
- Proficiency in engineering, project management, and reporting software (Advantageous).
- Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Occupational Health & Safety (Advantageous).
