What will you do

As the Senior Business Analyst you will partner with the business to identify and implement process improvements, support change management and drive workflow automation. This position plays a key role in translating business needs into actionable, automated solutions that enhance overall performance.
You will be leading business engagements and gathering requirements, designing, automating, and documenting workflow processes and supporting operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a high degree of independence, ownership, and accountability in managing end-to-end business analysis activities.

This role is based in Bellville, Cape Town and forms part of our Sanlam Corporate IT business unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather, define, and validate business and functional requirements
  • Configure, implement, and enhance workflow solutions to support evolving business needs
  • Develop and execute test plans; investigate and resolve complex workflow or system-related issues
  • Support end-to-end workflow testing, implementation, and provide ongoing assistance throughout the adoption lifecycle
  • Create and maintain key documentation including user stories, process flows, and system configuration records
  • Deliver training, resources, and guidance to Training Partners to ensure successful enablement and knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure business requirements are aligned with deployment and integration workflows
  • Provide help desk support, including the intake, prioritization, documentation, and resolution of end-user support requests
  • Understanding of the Agile development process
  • Understand and practice the agile principles and values
  • Support project allocation and resource planning as part of overall BA responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT/ BA Certification
  • 5-8 years plus experience in business applications and exposure to IT functions
  • Experience in SQL database design and query writing
  • Exposure to DevOps environments, including collaboration with development and operations teams is required
  • A general understanding of cloud architecture and implementation principles would be advantageous
  • Experience in the insurance industry, specifically Employee Benefits would be highly advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Highly self-motivated to deliver both independently and with strong team collaboration
  • Strong written and oral communication along with presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Often take on informal coaching roles for junior BAs or serve as a knowledge hub across project and/or business teams
  • Familiarity with writing SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data is essential
