Senior Accountant
A well-established organisation within the manufacturing and retail industry is seeking to appoint a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team based in Alberton, Johannesburg South. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment supporting operational and financial excellence.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a BCom-qualified professional with completed SAICA or SAIPA articles and 13 years post-articles experience, who thrives in a hands-on role and enjoys taking ownership of tax, reporting, and team management responsibilities.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and leading a small team within the finance function.
The appointed individual will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial information, while contributing to process improvements and strengthening financial controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Oversee tax compliance, including VAT and income tax submissions
- Manage and mentor junior finance staff
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and enforce strong financial controls
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support audits and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting
Job Experience & Qualifications:
- BCom degree (non-negotiable)
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles
- 13 years post-articles experience
- Strong experience in tax and financial reporting
- Previous people management or supervisory experience advantageous
- Experience within manufacturing or retail environments preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site environment and meet deadlines
