REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification such as BSc (Food Science), BEng (Engineering), BTech (Food Technology), or any other relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in the food industry, with at least 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Experience in production supervision within food processing, FMCG, or manufacturing (preference will be given to applicants with experience in fresh fruit and vegetable production).
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Excel) and production reporting systems (ERP systems, etc.).
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work shifts and meet tight production deadlines.
  • Leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • Fruit and/or vegetable processing experience will be advantageous.

DUTIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate production staff to achieve daily targets and ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Monitor workflow, quality standards, and safety compliance on the production floor.
  • Ensure production schedules are met and report on output and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, materials, and wastage.
  • Train, motivate, and lead team members to enhance performance and ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to resolve any issues promptly.
  • Apply Food Safety and Quality Standards to ensure products meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, upskill, and train employees on all product types and processes.
  • Monitor staff performance, absenteeism, and tardiness to maintain a productive workforce.
  • Minimize contamination of foreign materials and objects before, during, and after production runs.
  • Ensure effective and efficient production at all times, adhering to work orders and meeting targets.
  • Monitor production processes and implement necessary changes to improve efficiency.
  • Manage the final product and palletized stock, ensuring quality and inventory control.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Investigate issues and implement preventative measures to avoid future problems.
  • Enforce and adhere to HSE principles to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
