Financial Accountant

My client specialises in the leasing, management, and optimisation of vehicle fleets and related assets for corporate, public-sector, and retail clients. Its core offerings include operating leases, allowing clients to use vehicles or other assets without the burden of ownership, enabling better cash flow management.

Duties:

• Financial Accounting & Reporting:
• Manage the full accounting function for multiple residential portfolios, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions.
• Prepare and maintain general ledgers, journals, and trial balances for each portfolio.
• Compile monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and performance summaries per portfolio.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policy.
• Consolidate results across different portfolios to present an accurate view of overall property performance.
• Revenue, Billing & Collections:
• Oversee rental income accounting, including invoicing, receipts allocation, and reconciliation of tenant accounts.
• Manage tenant deposit reconciliations and ensure compliance with lease agreements.
• Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding tenant balances in collaboration with the leasing and credit control teams.
• Review and approve rent roll reports, ensuring that all lease terms and escalations are correctly reflected in financial systems.
• Bank, Balance Sheet & Reconciliation Control:
• Perform bank reconciliations for multiple portfolio accounts.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations monthly, including accruals, prepayments, and tenant deposits.
• Investigate and clear reconciling items promptly, maintaining audit-ready records.
• Maintain robust internal controls over financial data integrity and approval processes.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Degree in Accounting
• SAIPA articles
• 4 years relevant Property experience
