German Import/Export Clerk
We are a growing company that supplies raw materials, equipment, and spare parts to the beverage industry in Africa on behalf of major German and European manufacturing companies.
To strengthen our team in Cape Town, we are looking for an Import/Export Clerk.
Requirements for this position:
Qualifications:
- Team player
- Good communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- At least 5 years of professional experience in procurement/logistics, import, and export
- Experience with Pastel – advantageous
- Experience with letter of credit payment methods – advantageous
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- German language skills – advantageous
- Valid work permit (if required)
- Own vehicle
Main Responsibilities:
- Procuring various products from local and international suppliers
- Preparing quotations for cross-trade and import shipments for clients
- Coordinating with freight forwarders to obtain air, sea, and courier quotes
- Placing orders with various international and local suppliers
- Monitoring and following up with suppliers to arrange pick-up dates
- Daily follow-up on open orders with suppliers
- Organizing and expediting courier, air, and sea transport
- Keeping clients informed about orders and delivery times
- Monitoring customer accounts for due payments/invoicing
- Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and customers
- Product costing
- Tasks are not limited to the above; the role may also include other secretarial duties when support is needed
