The Role: Bookkeeper

This is a full-time remote role for an experienced bookkeeper who thrives in a dynamic, detail-driven environment. You'll manage financial records, VAT submissions, payroll processing, and supplier payments for a portfolio of UK-based creative industry clients.

Working UK hours, you'll operate as an embedded part of each client's finance team, providing high-quality, timely support while liaising with accountants and HMRC as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience in an accountancy practice
  • Maintain accurate records in Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent
  • Complete bank reconciliations and post journals
  • Prepare and submit UK VAT returns (MTD-compliant)
  • Manage supplier payments and client bank accounts
  • Process payroll, including PAYE and pensions
  • Handle HMRC communications and certificate requests
  • Support year-end accounts and management reporting
  • Manage client inboxes and finance-related communications
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and updating records
  • Suggest and implement process improvements
About You
  • 3+ years bookkeeping experience in a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll
  • Proficient in Xero (essential); QuickBooks or FreeAgent a plus
  • Strong Excel skills and confident in using cloud-based tools
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communicator, able to explain finance to non-finance clients
  • AAT-qualified or equivalent practical experience preferred
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working remotely
