Plant Engineer

This role will place you in the centre of overseeing the design, development, construction, and maintenance of industrial plants and equipment, ensuring their efficient and safe operation. This includes managing projects, implementing new technology, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, control, and support all the requirements for apprenticeships with in the engineering department.
- Design and oversee the installation and maintenance of plant equipment.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Evaluate and improve plant processes for efficiency and safety.
- Assessing the operational functionality and efficiency of plant systems and machinery.
- Designing and implementing plans for the installation and maintenance of plant machinery.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:
- BSc or bachelors degree in engineering, typically mechanical, electrical, industrial, or chemical engineering
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) may be beneficial.
Experience:
- Proven work experience as a Plant Engineer within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with industrial control systems and manufacturing processes
- In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation, OHSA and ASIB
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, as well as environmental laws and guidelines
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing project plans and strategies.
- Physical ability to conduct site inspections and operate plant machinery as needed
Skills:
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must have a solid understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and practices, as well as practical experience in design, operation, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
- Experience in managing, guiding, and leading teams to ensure smooth operation processes
