Payroll Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage the full payroll function and ensure accurate salary processing, legislative compliance, and effective payroll administration. The ideal candidate will have solid experience working on Sage VIP Payroll and preferably hold a Sage-certified payroll qualification.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and process monthly and weekly payrolls.
- Capture and maintain employee payroll records on Sage VIP Payroll.
- Process salary adjustments, overtime, commissions, bonuses, deductions, and leave payments.
- Administer employee benefits and payroll-related deductions.
- Process terminations, retrenchments, and final payments.
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, UIF, SDL, COIDA, and relevant labour legislation.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and payroll reports.
- Generate payslips and management reports.
- Submit statutory returns and ensure payroll compliance.
- Resolve payroll-related queries from employees and management.
- Assist with payroll audits and year-end payroll processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Payroll qualification, Finance qualification, or related qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years' payroll experience.
- Proven experience working on Sage VIP Payroll (non-negotiable).
- Sound knowledge of South African payroll legislation.
- Experience processing payroll for medium to large employee complements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Sage VIP Payroll Certification.
- Sage University Payroll Qualification or Training Certificate.
- Certified Payroll Administrator qualification.
- Exposure to HR and payroll integration systems.
