Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on family law matters involving property and assets, including:
  • Property division during divorce settlements.
  • Drafting and registering antenuptial contracts.
  • Advising on matrimonial property regimes.
  • Property transfers linked to divorce or inheritance.
  • Joint ownership agreements and related disputes.
  • Draft, review, and finalise conveyancing documents, deeds, and family law agreements.
  • Handle property registrations and transfers at the Deeds Office.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and settlements involving family and property issues.
  • Ensure accurate drafting and submission of legal documents relating to both family law and conveyancing.
  • Manage a caseload independently while providing mentorship to junior attorneys, candidate attorneys, and support staff.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring confidentiality, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Stay up to date with legislative developments and case law in both family law and conveyancing.
  • Contribute to practice growth through networking, client engagement, and referrals.

Requirements:

  • Admitted Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.
  • Minimum 710 years post-admission experience with strong focus on both family law and conveyancing.
  • Proven track record in handling complex family law matters involving property, asset division, and antenuptial contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyancing procedures and Deeds Office requirements.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational ability.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior legal staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
