Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on family law matters involving property and assets, including:
- Property division during divorce settlements.
- Drafting and registering antenuptial contracts.
- Advising on matrimonial property regimes.
- Property transfers linked to divorce or inheritance.
- Joint ownership agreements and related disputes.
- Draft, review, and finalise conveyancing documents, deeds, and family law agreements.
- Handle property registrations and transfers at the Deeds Office.
- Represent clients in negotiations and settlements involving family and property issues.
- Ensure accurate drafting and submission of legal documents relating to both family law and conveyancing.
- Manage a caseload independently while providing mentorship to junior attorneys, candidate attorneys, and support staff.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring confidentiality, professionalism, and empathy.
- Stay up to date with legislative developments and case law in both family law and conveyancing.
- Contribute to practice growth through networking, client engagement, and referrals.
Requirements:
- Admitted Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.
- Minimum 710 years post-admission experience with strong focus on both family law and conveyancing.
- Proven track record in handling complex family law matters involving property, asset division, and antenuptial contracts.
- Strong knowledge of conveyancing procedures and Deeds Office requirements.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior legal staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
