Product Manager

Key roles of the Product Manager:

• Product marketing
• Vendor Management
• Sales Support
• Back-Office Management

Key responsibilities:

• Obtain an adequate understanding of the product, its competitive position worldwide by product category as well as locally by product category.
• OEM partners where relevant; local distributors of the Vendors and its competitor products , the customer base, etc.
• A strategy must be put in place to build and / or increase demand by creating awareness and creating effective solutions for the target market.
• Build an in depth understanding of how the Vendor does business, how their targets and rebates are structured and its stock level requirements.
• An understanding of Vendors Quarters and Financial Year end must be known.
• The Product Manager must clearly communicate all relevant product lines, market related information, objectives and technical knowledge to all the sales teams, and ensure that they all understand the overall sales strategy, business plan and objectives.
• Monthly Targets must be given to all salespeople as well as to key accounts in order to achieve TVR and Vendor targets. Updated records must be kept on all sales history and should form part of the understanding for future targets.
