In this role, youll be responsible for the full financial function of one or more retail or mixed-use properties. Youll manage budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting while ensuring accurate rental income tracking, expense management, and recoveries.

Working closely with Property and Leasing Managers, youll support operational efficiency and help drive the profitability of the asset. Your sharp eye for detail and strong understanding of property finance will ensure compliance, support audit readiness, and enable strategic decision-making.

This role reports to the Head of Finance and some of the responsibilities are:

  • Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly and annual financial reports for the property.
  • Perform variance analysis between actuals and budget/forecasts.
  • Ensure that all income, including rentals and recoveries, is accurately recorded and allocated.
  • Manage rolling forecasts based on occupancy trends, expense shifts, and strategic inputs.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Compile annual budgets in collaboration with property and asset managers.
  • Rent Roll & Lease Administration:
  • Reconcile and review rent rolls to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Oversee lease compliance from a financial standpoint (e.g. escalations, recoveries, and tenant deposits).
  • Expense Control & Recoveries:
  • Monitor and control operating expenses.
  • Calculate and reconcile tenant recoveries, utilities, municipal charges, and common area maintenance.
  • Ensure that all recoverable costs are billed correctly and timely.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

  • BCom Degree in accounting
  • 9 years in the property industry
  • SAICA/SAIPA
  • MDA
