Developer RPG
Intermediate Developer/ Developer RPG Location: Fourways, Johannesburg Basic: R50 000 pm
Job Purpose: Our client in the insurance sector is seeking a Developer RPG to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of general application software and specialised utility programs. The role involves analysing user requirements, designing and customising software solutions to improve operational efficiency, and contributing to system design within specific application areas.The developer will work independently or as part of a team to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and enhance new and existing software applications based on user requirements.
Identify and implement improvements to existing systems, processes, and procedures.
Monitor and fix software defects to ensure optimal application performance.
Perform routine testing and respond to performance issues or user queries.
Implement basic security measures and report issues as needed.
Continuously develop technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members to build team capability.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
Maintain the application development roadmap aligned with business priorities.
Manage and respond to complex customer service issues and technical inquiries.
Modify software for error correction, hardware compatibility, and performance improvement.
Plan and oversee testing, documentation, and validation of software systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess project requirements and provide updates.
Analyse and plan system installations or modifications based on business needs.
Coordinate software installation and ensure systems operate per specifications.
Lead or coordinate work among developers and technical staff.
Advise users and clients on software maintenance and provide necessary training. Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / SAQA-accredited equivalent (Essential)
Recognised software development certification, degree, or diploma (Essential)
3+ years of experience in software development using relevant programming languages (Essential)
RPG programming skills and experience (Mandatory)
