Sous Chef – 4-Star Hotel, Cape Town
A new 4-star hotel in Cape Town is looking for an experienced Junior Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This is a key leadership role in the kitchen, requiring creativity, precision, and strong management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage food costs efficiently.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Train and mentor junior chefs, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- Ensure consistency in food production and adherence to portion control.
- Step in for the Executive Chef in their absence and handle daily kitchen operations.
Requirements:
- South African ID or valid work permit.
- 2-4 years' experience in a similar role within a 4 or 5-star hotel.
- A formal culinary qualification from a recognized institution is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, stock control, and food safety.
- Creativity and passion for developing new menu items.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
