Requirements
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Lead engineer, the facilities engineer will be responsible for designing and developing agricultural infrastructure such as farm roads, storage facilities, and water infrastructures to improve all areas within Westfalia. Conduct soil, land, and environmental assessments to guide agricultural and facility development.Oversee project management, construction supervision, budgeting, and contractor performance while ensuring regulatory compliance, safety standards, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability in all engineering activities
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing of structures, facilities, dams, reservoirs, roads, stormwater structures, reinforced concrete structures, etc for agricultural production and processing, considering factors like efficiency, optimized utilization, safety, and environmental impact.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules and timeous executions
- Selecting and specifying appropriate equipment and machinery for various agricultural and processing operations.
- Designing the layout of agricultural facilities, including storage, processing, and packaging areas, to ensure optimal workflow and productivity.
- Preparing detailed engineering drawings and specifications for construction and installation.
- Identifying and implementing innovative solutions to improve facilities efficiency and effectiveness.
- Reading and interpretation of engineering plans and drawings for civil related projects.
- Onsite project execution and management, including contractors
- Quality assurance on all works, installation, construction
Education:
- BSc-Eng/B-Eng Agricultural/Civil or N.Dip/BTech Civil Engineering
- Candidate or professional registration will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in project management, civil design and engineering construction projects or industry
- Certificate in Health and safety training will be an added advantage
- Ability to identify, implement and maintain health and safety procedures in the workshop and construction sites
