Operations Manager

You will be responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple touchpoints, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and delivering a seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee national operations, ensuring efficient cargo handling, service delivery, and operational consistency
• Drive customer experience initiatives, ensuring high service standards and resolution of operational or service-related issues
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including internal teams, clients, and service providers, ensuring alignment and performance against SLAs
• Oversee operational reporting, including performance metrics, audits, and incident management, with regular reporting to senior leadership
• Lead and develop teams through coaching, performance management, and workforce planning
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards within a highly regulated environment
• Manage operational budgets, monitor expenditure, and identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue growth
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations, systems, and service delivery

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

• Diploma in Business Management, Administration, or related field (NQF Level 7)

Experience:

• 35 years operational experience within cargo, logistics, or a similar high-volume environment
• Minimum 3 years experience in a management role overseeing operations and teams
• Proven experience in customer service management and stakeholder engagement
• Experience dealing with HR and IR-related matters

Skills:

• Strong leadership and people management capability
• Solid understanding of operational processes within logistics or supply chain environments
• Strong reporting and analytical skills
• Proficiency in operational systems and Microsoft Office tools
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment

Additional Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA)
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel when required
• Valid drivers licence and own transport
• Strong decision-making ability and problem-solving skills
• High level of professionalism, resilience, and emotional intelligence
• Ability to drive change, improve processes, and influence business outcomes
