Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs, your role will encompass:
- Regulatory Monitoring & Analysis: Track financial and non-financial regulatory trends; review, summarize, and outline the business impacts of new developments for various divisions.
- Strategy & Implementation: Design and oversee robust implementation plans to ensure internal controls, policies, and processes seamlessly align with new legislation.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy: Formulate and submit corporate commentary on proposed legislation to Regulators, Government bodies, and industry associations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Operations to proactively mitigate regulatory risks and capitalize on strategic opportunities.
- Industry Representation: Act as the organization's ambassador on key industry bodies, committees, and forums.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, coach, and develop a high-performing regulatory team.
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this high-impact role, you must meet the following Minimum Requirements:
- Education: B.Com LLB degree is essential.
- Experience: 7+ years of solid experience within the Financial Services sector.
- Qualifications: Being an Admitted Attorney and/or holding a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation will be highly advantageous.
- Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth knowledge of South African financial regulations impacting FSPs.
- Exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex legal and regulatory texts.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills to build trust with senior leadership and external regulatory bodies.
- A proactive, forward-thinking mindset with a solutions-driven approach to risk.
