Senior Financial Accountant - PE

A market leader in the manufacturing and distribution sector is seeking a dynamic, hands-on and commercially astute Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team!

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful individual will take ownership of the full accounting function, implement cost-saving initiatives, provide leadership to the finance department, and ensure sound financial controls, compliance and reporting across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Preparation of management accounts and budgets
  • Cash flow forecasting and payment planning
  • Fixed asset management and tax schedules
  • Foreign currency/exchange control exposure and SARB applications
  • VAT calculations and SARS submissions
  • Internal audits and risk management
  • Cost-saving initiatives and financial analysis (Opex/Variable costings)
  • General ledger reconciliations and journal entries
  • Supplier consignment stock reconciliations
  • Financial year-end audit preparation
  • Day-to-day management of the finance department
  • Supervision and development of a team of five staff members

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
  • BCom Accounting, BCompt Accounting Sciences, CIMA or ACCA qualification.
Experience
  • Minimum 12 years'' practical experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong exposure to foreign currency transactions and exchange control requirements.
  • Previous experience supervising finance staff.
Systems Experience
  • Sage 200 Evolution Version 10 (non-negotiable).
  • Xperdyte manufacturing system advantageous.
  • AssetZure fixed asset software advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups and Macros.
  • Intermediate MS Office proficiency.

  • Able to work in a structured environment.
  • Willing to work additional hours during month-end, budget and audit periods when required.
