Our client, an established global data and analytics consultancy specialising in the insurance and financial services sector is looking for a sharp, driven and detail-oriented Finance Professional to join their dynamic and innovative Finance team in Durbanville, Cape Town.

Main Purpose of the Role
To own the day-to-day South African finance function, month-end reporting, statutory compliance and financial controls.
The Senior Accountant will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, disciplined financial processes and reliable financial data that supports business decision-making.
Qualification, Skills and Experience required
Essential:
- BCom Accounting / Finance (or equivalent)
- 57 years accounting / general ledger experience
- Experience within services, consulting, software or project-based revenue environments advantageous
- Strong ERP systems exposure (SAGE Pastel Evolution advantageous)
- Strong understanding of VAT, PAYE, and statutory compliance
- Exposure to external audits
- Exposure to multiple currencies and foreign exchange fluctuations
- Strong and proven MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting)
- Practical understanding of accrual accounting and revenue recognition
- Exposure to AI tools such as OpenAI, Copilot, Claude, or Gemini within a work environment
Preferred:
- SAICA articles
- Deferred revenue accounting experience
- Exposure to recurring revenue or retainer-based billing models
- Basic understanding of transfer pricing principles
- Exposure to time-tracking system integrations
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations- Manage cashbook, bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors and supplier payments
- Process invoicing across retainers, subscriptions, milestone billing and hourly billing structures
- Monitor revenue recognition and deferred revenue timing
- Maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations
- Manage expense reimbursements and payment workflows
- Execute full month-end close within the ERP system
- Prepare journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and FX entries
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and GL analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts with commentary and variance analysis
- Manage VAT submissions and reconciliations
- Coordinate PAYE/UIF submissions with payroll providers
- Support annual financial statement preparation
- Assist with external audits and audit schedules
- Maintain statutory records and compliance documentation
- Process cross-border intercompany transactions
- Reconcile intercompany balances across international entities
- Assist with shared cost allocations and recharges
- Maintain fixed asset registers and control processes
- Document SOPs and improve finance processes and controls
- Identify process gaps, inefficiencies or control weaknesses and escalate appropriately
