Sales & Business Development Manager

Our client is looking for a Sales & Business Development Manager to drive growth in South Africas cross-border transport and clearing & forwarding sector. This role is ideal for a highly driven, well-connected professional with expertise in expanding freight and logistics operations across Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in landside logistics, cross-border transport, clearing & forwarding, and freight forwarding.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow market share and expand operations within South Africa and SSA.
- Build and maintain relationships with C-suite executives, business owners, and key industry stakeholders.
- Drive the companys growth in clearing & forwarding services in South Africa while strengthening the existing cross-border logistics business.
- Oversee cargo movement from South Africa to key markets such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi.
- Compete effectively against major industry players, including Reload, Steinweg Bridge, Access, and DSV.
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth service delivery after client acquisition.
- Travel nationwide as required to develop and maintain key business relationships.
Key Skills:
- Proven business development and sales experience in logistics, freight forwarding, and transport.
- Extensive cross-border logistics experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Strong network and industry connections in the logistics and commodities sector.
- Self-starter with a hunter mentality, ambitious, and target-driven.
- Ability to engage with high-level executives and corporate clients.
- Well-spoken and well-presented, with a track record of closing high-value deals.
- Basic operational knowledge and hands-on approach in logistics processes.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams across Africa.
- South African national with deep market knowledge and experience working outside South Africa.
- Age: under 45.
- 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding, transport logistics, clearing & forwarding, or shipping.
- Experience with a leading multinational or major competitor (not small family businesses).
Qualifications:
- Degree preferred but not required.
