The Role: Senior EICA Design Engineer
As a Senior EICA Design Engineer, you will lead the design and coordination of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation systems on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a key technical role within a multidisciplinary team, focused on delivering safe, compliant, and cost-effective design solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead EICA design tasks on major water/wastewater projects.
- Manage and coordinate multi-discipline design interfaces.
- Interpret and challenge client specifications and project requirements.
- Develop detailed design deliverables including equipment specs, load/cable schedules, SLDs, loop diagrams, and control system architectures.
- Support process engineers with P&ID development and control philosophy documentation.
- Conduct technical reviews, bid evaluations, and support procurement and installation teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK water industry standards and safety regulations.
- Drive design risk assessment processes and health & safety considerations.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in technical design.
- Collaborate with UK and South African teams on delivery, ensuring communication and quality.
- Minimum 7 years experience in EICA engineering within the water/wastewater sector.
- ECSA registration (Pr Eng/Pr Tech or Candidate).
- BTech or BSc in an EICA-related engineering discipline.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment and pumping systems.
- Proficient in design tools including ElectricalOM, CAD software, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with UK water industry standards and QA processes.
- Effective communicator with experience working in collaborative, cross-border teams.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and drive innovation in a dynamic engineering environment.
