The business is expanding its finance team to meet growing demand and is now seeking a skilled Credit Controller who can bring both experience and a positive, solutions-focused attitude to the role.
The Role: Credit Controller
The Credit Controller will report to the Finance Manager and play a crucial role in maintaining cash flow by managing debtors and assessing customer creditworthiness. This individual will liaise with sales teams and customers to ensure payments are made on time, support account setups, and proactively reduce debtor days to increase liquidity.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage relationships with key accounts to support timely payments
- Communicate with all account tiers (Core, Tail, Merchant) to chase outstanding debt
- Post and allocate BACS payments in BC; ensure sales ledger reconciliation
- Serve as the first point of contact for query resolution between Finance and Sales
- Send out requested documentation (invoices, credit notes, statements, PODs)
- Monitor customer credit ratings via third-party tools
- Escalate problem debts appropriately based on customer type
- Provide timely updates on risks and potential cash flow impacts to Finance Lead
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date debtor reports
- Manage new account requests, including credit application processes and profile setups
- Set up statements, reminders, and credit limits in BC
- Work with Sales Managers to notify them of upcoming debt collection actions
- Liaise with debt collection agencies and monitor recovery progress
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and uphold company values
- 3+ years in a Credit Controller or similar finance role
- Strong experience in customer-focused credit control
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Intermediate MS Office proficiency, especially Excel
- Numerate, organised, and detail-oriented
- Basic accounting certificate or similar qualification desirable
- Experience using finance analytics tools and reports advantageous
- Able to work UK hours (8am5pm GMT, Monday to Friday)
- South African citizen with stable internet and remote setup
