Diesel Mechanic – Mobile Plant & Fleet

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service, maintain, and repair a fleet of mobile cranes, cherry pickers, trucks, and bakkies. The successful candidate will be hands-on, reliable, and capable of working independently while ensuring fleet availability and safety.

• Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile cranes (yellow metal), cherry pickers, trucks, and bakkies
• Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on diesel engines
• Carry out auto-electrical and hydraulic fault finding and repairs
• Complete job cards accurately and timeously
• Plan maintenance work and maintain a computer-based service schedule
• Ensure all machinery complies with safety and operational standards
• Work independently when required and manage workload effectively
• Support shutdown periods, including early starts and late finishes when operationally required
• Participate in standby duty and weekend work when necessary

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, specifically within yellow metal / mobile cranes
• Several years’ hands-on experience working with heavy-duty plant and fleet vehicles
• Strong auto-electrical and hydraulic repair knowledge
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Computer literacy for maintenance planning and service records
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding mechanical work
• Valid driver’s licence (Code EC or similar advantageous)
