Job Title: SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) Coordinator
Location: Vereeniging, Gauteng

Direct Reports to: General Manager

Role Purpose

The SHEQ Coordinator will support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Ver-Bolt & Ver-Chems Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) systems. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal procedures and international standards, including ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.

The coordinator will play a key role in fostering a safe and quality-driven workplace culture across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Support ISO 9001:2015 QMS processes, including documentation control, internal audits, management reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and compile detailed reports with recommendations. Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports, and metrics for management review. Facilitate SHEQ training and awareness programs for all employees.

Collaborate with internal departments to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and quality excellence. Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry best practices, advising management accordingly.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the companys SHEQ policies, procedures and programs.

  • Provide the Sales Team with quality support on orders, material certificates, and ad-hoc internal inspections.
Qualifications & Experience
  • National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a SHEQ role, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Practical experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards is advantageous.
  • Understanding of relevant local health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ principles, risk management, and incident investigation.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and document control systems.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Working Hours:

  • Monday Thursday: 07:30 17:00
  • Friday: 07:30 14:00

Remuneration:

  • Basic salary between R 12 000.00 R 15 000.00 + KPI commission (details discussed during the interview).
