Purpose of the job:
The Production Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all weldingârelated production activities within a highâvolume trailer manufacturing plant. This role ensures thatwelded components and assemblies are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. The Foreman leads
and supervises welders, assistants, and support staff; manages workflow and resource allocation; and ensures adherence to welding procedures, health and safety requirements, and manufacturing best practices. The position plays a critical role in maintaining consistent output by planning daily welding operations, monitoring productivity, resolving bottlenecks, and coordinating closely with Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Logistics, and Maintenance.
The Foreman is accountable for ensuring welding processes are correctly applied (including MIG, TIG, ARC, structural welding, jigs/fixtures, and trailerâspecific assemblies), maintaining equipment readiness, and promoting continuous improvement.
Ultimately, the purpose of the role is to deliver highâquality welded structures on time, optimise labour and material use, and support the plants operational targets.
Minimum requirements:
- Matric
- Tertiary Qualification in Production Management and/or Operations and Trade Tested in Welding, Boilermaking, Vehicle Body building or similar
- Code 8 Drivers License, Clear Criminal record
- Computer Literacy: MS Office - advanced (essential)
- +5 Years experience in manufacturing and/or Trailer Industry
- +5 Years experience in a Middle Management Role
