Job Purpose
The Double Coded Welder will be responsible for performing high-quality welding on cast components within a foundry environment. The role requires strict adherence to welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations to ensure the structural integrity and durability of cast products.
Key Responsibilities- Perform welding on castings using approved welding procedures and techniques
- Read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications
- Carry out repairs and fabrication on cast iron and steel components
- Ensure all welding work meets quality and inspection standards
- Conduct pre- and post-weld inspections
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
- Work closely with quality control and production teams to meet deadlines
- Identify and report defects, faults, or non-conformances
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Valid Double Coding Welding Certification (e.g. SMAW, GTAW, or FCAW)
- Proven experience in a casting or foundry environment
- Ability to weld various materials including cast iron and steel
- Strong understanding of welding procedures and quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a coded welder.
- Previous experience in heavy industry, foundry, or casting environment is essential.
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Good communication skills
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
Working Conditions
Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy industrial environments. Use of protective equipment required at all times.
