An established South African manufacturing business is seeking an experienced manufacturing and operations leader to join its executive team.
The is will suit a hands-on Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Factory Manager or General Manager with strong manufacturing and process experience.
The role will take responsibility for:
- Leading manufacturing, plant and production operations
- Driving productivity, quality, efficiency and continuous improvement
- Managing engineering, capital projects and process optimisation
- Overseeing supply chain, procurement and operational planning
- Managing divisional budgets and commercial performance
- Developing and leading high-performing teams
- Supporting strategic growth, product development and international expansion
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders
- Strong senior-level manufacturing, plant, production or operations experience
- Proven ability to manage people, processes and operational performance
- Strong technical and process understanding
- Experience with continuous improvement and/or capital projects
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Strategic thinking combined with a highly practical, hands-on approach
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
An Engineering degree in Chemical, Process, Industrial, Metallurgical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering would be advantageous, but exceptional manufacturing and leadership experience will be considered. An MBA is advantageous but not essential.
This role will suit an operational leader that is hands-on, practical, intelligent, organised and level-headed, with the ability to move comfortably between the shop floor, plant, customers, senior management and boardroom. This is an opportunity for an accomplished manufacturing leader to step into an executive succession role and ultimately take full ownership of a strategically important manufacturing division.
