Packhouse Manager – Macadamia Processing

Our client, a well-established macadamia processing facility situated in one of South Africa’s leading macadamia-producing regions, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Packhouse Manager to take full responsibility for the operational management of its warehousing and processing activities.

This is a senior operational role suited to a strong leader who thrives in a high-volume, quality-driven agricultural processing environment.

Role Overview

The Packhouse Manager will be responsible for the complete management, coordination, and optimisation of all packhouse and processing activities, including:

• Receiving, weighing, documentation, sampling, and initial quality control of macadamia nuts.
• Overseeing the full drying process.
• Managing stock control across all storage facilities and internal processes.
• Optimising workflow between drying rooms, storage areas, sorting lines, and further processing stages.
• Ensuring safety standards and risk controls are consistently maintained.
• Leading day-to-day packhouse staff operations, including shift planning.
• Reporting daily, weekly, and monthly operational figures to senior management.
• Implementing and maintaining SOPs across all packhouse processes.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a packhouse, production, or processing management role.
• Proven operational management experience within a processing plant or warehouse environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Operations Management or a related field (advantageous).

• Experience leading and managing processing teams.
• Exposure to planning and reporting on processing outputs and efficiencies.
• Knowledge of the macadamia, nut, or seed processing industry.

• Strong planning, administrative, and management ability.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet operational targets.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on product quality.
• Analytical with strong numerical ability.
• Proficient in MS Office and general computer systems.
• Proactive, positive mindset with strong leadership capability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain key operational relationships.
• Capable of monitoring multiple processes simultaneously.
