Role Overview

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the performance of the Gauteng division, overseeing operations, financial management, business development, sales, and a mechanical workshop specialising in container modifications and conversions.

This position reports directly to the Managing Director.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a technically strong individual with excellent commercial and financial acumen. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 43 employees while driving operational excellence, profitability, and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic direction and execution of the Gauteng operation.
  • Manage the container rental business and workshop operations.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial performance.
  • Drive business growth and market penetration initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 43 employees.
  • Ensure operational performance aligns with financial and growth objectives.
  • Identify customer needs and drive product innovation initiatives.
  • Oversee container modification and conversion projects from concept to completion.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with financial management to ensure profitability and effective capital deployment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Non-Negotiable)
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in small business or operational management.
  • Proven leadership experience within an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
  • Demonstrated commercial and business development skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical and operational information and make sound business decisions.
  • Strong people management and team leadership capabilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on management approach.
