Business Development Manager / Key Account Manager – Retail & Corporate Cleaning Services

The Opportunity
This is a dual-focus role that combines new business acquisition with strategic account management. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing new cleaning contracts while maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients across the retail, commercial, warehousing, and corporate sectors.
You will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and positioning our company as the preferred cleaning services partner in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within retail, corporate, industrial, logistics, and commercial sectors.
- Prepare and present compelling and detailed proposals, tenders, costings and service solutions.
- Conduct site inspections and client needs assessments.
- Negotiate contracts and close new business opportunities.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through networking, referrals, and industry engagement.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic client accounts.
- Develop strong relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Conduct regular client review meetings and service evaluations.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure service excellence and contract compliance.
- Resolve client concerns proactively and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of cleaning, hygiene, and facilities management services.
- Represent the company at industry events and networking functions.
- Proven experience in Business Development, Key Account Management, or Sales.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within cleaning services, facilities management, security services, hygiene services, or related B2B service industries.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving sales and revenue targets.
- Experience managing large retail, corporate, or commercial accounts.
- Strong proposal writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Valid South African driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (focus on Excel) and CRM systems.
- Existing network within retail chains, shopping centres, corporate facilities, property management companies, or logistics operators.
- Experience with tender submissions and contract negotiations.
- Knowledge of cleaning methodologies, hygiene compliance, and facilities management practices.
