Key Purpose

Corporate Travel Insurance (CTI) Senior Manager will be responsible for driving new business, retaining existing accounts and opening/binding relationships. The incumbent will maintain full responsibility for the Corporate Travel Insurance P&L ensuring that Discovery Travel Insurance meets/exceeds the budgeted key performance indicators.

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

The candidate will be the primary point of contact for Discovery CTI and will be responsible for:

  • Driving broker (new and existing) relationships resulting in incremental premium growth
  • Maintaining a business pipeline, targeting business that falls within CTI’s underwriting appetite
  • Quoting and binding new business within the incumbents allocated underwriting authority
  • Preparation of terms and policy endorsements when required
  • Underwriting and pricing more complicated accounts/policies, that significantly contribute to the overall travel insurance business mix
  • Preparation of underwriting referrals for quotes that fall outside the incumbents underwriting authority
  • Driving the renewal process ensuring that the business retained meets the targeted Loss Ratio and other key metrics
  • Feilding and addressing broker and policyholder questions ensuring that they are adequality resolved
  • Managing the CTI P&L, ensure that all key metrics are met/exceeded within a given financial year
  • Engaging the respective compliance and risk teams to ensure processes and policies are in line with current legislation
  • Working with CTI’s appointed tech provider, internal architecture team and systems team to enhance product features and improve on the client experience
  • Upward communication of portfolio performance, including key KPI’s and performance of key accounts
  • Providing support to direct reports ensure they are upskilled accordingly
  • The candidate will be responsible liaising with the Business Intelligence team to develop, streamline, improve, and automate CTI reporting (i.e., quote rate, conversion rate, retention rate, average premium etc. per cohort) through the available data visualization tools
  • Primary interfaces will include: Head: Travel Insurance, Actuarial, R&D, Travel Operations, Systems, Architecture, Compliance, DCS, DFA’s etc.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Microsoft 365 – suite of products
  • Understanding of non-life insurance, cell-captives, and reinsurance
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to provide quality service to clients, internal and external
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

Education and Experience

Education:

  • Matric (Essential)
  • BCom or equivalent (Essential)
  • Regulatory Exams (Essential)

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years corporate/commercial distribution experience
  • Minimum 5 years underwriting experience
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years travel/A&H corporate/commercial distribution experience (advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years Travel/A&H underwriting experience (advantageous)
