Financial Accountant

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join the finance team of a global market leader with a strong presence in the South African retail space. This role plays a key part in supporting the finance department and ensuring accurate financial management across our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage reconciliations for the retail division, including MICROS and banking transactions
• Maintain and process petty cash, mall vouchers, credit card expenses, and bank uploads
• Ensure accurate daily and monthly cash-up processes
• Prepare monthly retail reconciliations (Card to Bank, EFT, Netflorist, Payfast)
• Provide finance support for new store openings and closures
• Take ownership of accounting functions including fixed assets, CAPEX reports, depreciation, prepayments, and recurring journals
• Prepare monthly VAT reconciliations and support VAT audits
• Assist in the preparation of retail turnover certificates
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes
• Provide audit support and assist with internal control system (LICS) reporting

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Financial Accounting environment
• BS diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• SAP experience is a distinct advantage
• FMCG experience is highly beneficial
