Senior Attorney (Family Law)

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle a wide range of family law matters, including:
• Divorce (contested and uncontested)
• Child custody, access, and maintenance disputes
• Domestic violence and protection orders
• Matrimonial property regimes and antenuptial contracts
• Guardianship, adoption, and parental rights
• Mediation and settlement negotiations
• Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients in highly sensitive and confidential matters.
• Draft, review, and finalise legal documentation, pleadings, and court applications.
• Represent clients in family courts and other relevant forums.
• Manage and mentor junior attorneys, candidate attorneys, and support staff.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a professional and empathetic service.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes, case law, and best practices in family law.
• Contribute to business development through networking, referrals, and professional presence.

Requirements:

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 810 years post-admission experience, with a significant focus on family law.
• Proven track record of handling high-value, complex, and sensitive family law cases.
• Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
• Excellent drafting and legal writing ability.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Leadership and mentorship experience is essential.
