Engineering Business Development Manager

Requirements:

  • An Engineering qualification and an MBA or marketing qualification (preferably)
  • A strong understanding of engineering principles is essential to effectively communicate with clients and internal technical teams.
  • Expertise in sales, marketing and business development is crucial for driving growth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for client interactions, presentations and internal communication
  • The ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills are required to oversee sales processes and ensure projects meet their goals.
  • Proficient in negotiation of contracts and the ability to find creative solutions to meet client needs.

Key responsibilities:

Market analysis and strategy:

  • Conduct market research to identify new markets, customer needs, and potential business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute business and marketing strategies to increase market share and profitability.

Lead generation and client relations:

  • Prospect for new clients, build relationships, and manage existing customer accounts.

Sales and negotiation:

  • Prepare sales contracts and proposals, negotiate contract terms, and work with internal teams to create pricing strategies.

Technical and project coordination:

  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal departments like engineering and logistics.
  • Use technical expertise to understand client challenges and propose tailored solutions.
  • Project manage capital projects.

Marketing and promotion:

  • Organize and run marketing campaigns and prepare literature for new products.
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and industry events to promote the company.

Performance monitoring:

  • Monitor sales, market trends, and competitor activity to report on performance and recommend strategy adjustments.
