Senior Electrical Engineer

This role is suited to a technically strong professional with extensive exposure to substations, HV reticulation, power distribution systems, and large-scale industrial environments.

Duties:

• Lead electrical engineering activities across EPC/EPCM and construction projects.
• Develop and review HV and MV electrical designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Prepare and review single line diagrams, load lists, protection schemes, and electrical layouts.
• Support substation and power distribution system design and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance during procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, SANS, Eskom, and industry standards.
• Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Conduct site inspections, FATs, SATs, and commissioning support activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the engineering team.
• Support project planning, cost control, risk management, and technical reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA preferred.
• Minimum 810 years experience in industrial, mining, power, or energy projects.
• Strong HV experience within substations and power distribution systems.
• Experience with MV/HV systems ranging from 11kV to 132kV+.
• Knowledge of protection systems, fault studies, and electrical network analysis.
• Experience within mining, petrochemical, renewable energy, or heavy industrial environments advantageous.
• Strong understanding of electrical standards, specifications, and commissioning processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Advantageous Experience:

• Renewable energy, solar, BESS, or thermal power project exposure.
• Experience with ETAP, DIgSILENT, AutoCAD, or similar electrical design software.
• Exposure to construction and commissioning environments.
• Previous experience working on large industrial shutdowns or EPC projects.
