A well-known national retail group is on the lookout for an Accounts Payable Controller to join their Cape Town-based finance team.This isn't your typical AP role, it's a launchpad for someone eager to challenge the norm and grow into broader project and systems work.
What this role is all about:The core AP functions are in place , now they need someone who goes beyond the basics. Your mission? Spot gaps. Challenge outdated processes. Suggest smarter ways to report, reconcile, and run the AP function. You'll be backed by a strong team and an experienced Head , but your mindset and hunger for improvement will set you apart.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing day-to-day AP processing and supplier account maintenance
- Assisting with accurate and insightful reporting of creditors
- Supporting a new SAGE X3 environment with data and process optimisation
- Identifying opportunities for innovation in AP processes and systems
- Collaborating on finance projects beyond AP as the role evolves
What we're looking for:
- Degree/Diploma in Accounting or related
- 2 years' experience in a similar role (bonus, but not essential)
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables)
- Analytical thinker with a solutions-first approach
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment
- A dynamic, supportive team that welcomes new ideas
