Data Engineer

Our client is a well‑established and fast‑growing organisation in the financial services sector, recognised as a market leader in its field. They are currently looking for an Intermediate Data Engineer to join their Cape Townbased team in a hybrid working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, optimise, and maintain data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark
• Design and implement end‑to‑end data flows and scalable architecture
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data solutions
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality data platforms
• Ensure data quality, performance, and scalability across systems
• Continuously improve and modernise data engineering practices

Education:

• Relevant IT / Computer Science qualification (Degree or Diploma)

Experience:

• 35 years experience as a Data Engineer
• Proven experience working with Databricks
• Strong background in Apache Spark and cluster computing
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Prior back-end development experience advantageous
• Exposure to Azure cloud services beneficial
