Job Purpose:

To fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical components and machinery with precision, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and efficiency. The role involves machining, fitting, turning, and general mechanical maintenance.

• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other machine tools.
• Manufacture, modify, and repair machine components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform precision turning, threading, boring, and cutting of metals and alloys.
• Maintain accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and implement corrective actions.

• Suggest improvements for machining, fabrication, and maintenance processe

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related machine tools
• Manufacture, repair, and modify mechanical components to spec
• Assemble, install, align, and maintain machinery and mechanical systems
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Perform fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and OHS requirements
• Support continuous improvement and mentor junior staff where needed
• Fluent in Afrikaans

Qualifications and Experience::

• Trade Test: Fitter & Turner (Red Seal preferred)
• N3/N4 Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 2 to 5 years experience in industrial/manufacturing/heavy engineering
• Strong machining, fitting, and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Precision Engineering
• Safety-first mindset and attention to detail
