Workshop Manager (Toolroom)

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the toolroom workshop
• Manage and lead a team of toolmakers, machinists, and technicians
• Ensure timely manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
• Implement and maintain preventative maintenance systems for tooling
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime
• Monitor production schedules and align toolroom output with operational demands
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, health & safety regulations, and company policies
• Manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation within the toolroom
• Liaise with engineering, production, and quality departments to support business objectives

Requirements:

• Trade Test qualification (Toolmaker or relevant discipline)
• Proven experience in a toolroom environment within manufacturing
• Minimum 58 years experience in a supervisory or management role
• Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, tooling design, and maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Experience with CNC machines and toolroom equipment

Advantageous:

• Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments
• Exposure to CAD/CAM systems
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles
