Vertical Printer Operator, Durbanville
We’re looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Printer Operator with a strong background in sales / marketing to carry out vertical printing on walls, glass, metal and wood.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the printing / decoration / graphic design space and will oversee print production and manage client relationships to drive business growth.
This role is a hybrid position (office / field) that combines technical printing expertise with the ability to manage sales processes, client communications and operational teams.
In order to be considered, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Proven experience as a printer operator capable of operating various printing equipment
- Strong understanding of printing processes, materials and colour management
- Sales experience
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Experience with managing teams and overseeing operations
- Experience in large-format printing and digital printing technologies
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Able to multi-task
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (RIP software and Adobe Creative Suite)
- Knowledge of print production management software (Print MIS systems)
- Physically fit – able to lift 30kgs and stand for long periods
- Valid driver’s license (non-negotiable)
- Able to converse in English AND Afrikaans
You will be required to perform the following duties:
- Printer operation
- Operate and maintain a vertical printing machine
- Ensure quality and efficiency in print production meets the client’s specifications & deadlines
- Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of printing equipment
- Monitor print quality, colour consistency and materials
- Prepare print-ready files, adjust settings and perform colour calibrations
- Sales and client relationship management
- Identify, prospect and meet new clients
- Develop and present sales proposals and quotes
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Team management
- Co-ordinate production schedules to meet deadlines
- Train and mentor junior staff
- Monitor and control inventory levels
- Implement and enforce H & S procedures
- Reporting and admin
- Track job progress to ensure all jobs are completed on time and in budget
- Generate and maintain reports on sales, production costs and equipment performance
- Assist in developing marketing materials and strategies
