Operations Manager
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all warehouse and operational activities within the e-waste recycling business. This role ensures that operations are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
A key focus of this position is maintaining strong operational controls, minimizing risk, and implementing effective fraud prevention measures. The Operations Manager will play a critical leadership role in supervising staff, optimizing processes, and ensuring accurate handling, processing, and reporting of materials.
This position requires a candidate who is willing to be based in remote locations across the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia, and is comfortable with relocation and frequent travel.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight- Oversee daily warehouse and recycling operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Supervise and manage warehouse staff, including scheduling, performance, and discipline.
- Ensure proper handling, sorting, processing, and storage of e-waste materials.
- Monitor workflow and implement improvements to optimize operational performance.
- Lead, train, and develop operational and warehouse teams.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain strict operational controls to minimize fraud and material losses.
- Monitor stock movement, weighbridge processes, and reconciliation procedures.
- Conduct spot checks, audits, and investigations where discrepancies arise.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in reporting and documentation.
- Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of materials.
- Ensure correct identification, classification, and handling of e-waste.
- Reconcile stock records and investigate variances.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Enforce the use of PPE and safe working practices at all times.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Prepare and submit operational reports, including productivity, stock, and risk indicators.
- Monitor KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to senior management.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee material inflow and outflow processes, including collections and dispatch.
- Ensure efficient use of resources, equipment, and transport.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
