Role Overview
We are seeking a Field Service Technician ideally a qualified Industrial Electrician with solid experience in automation, controls, and industrial electrical systems. The role will involve the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of sophisticated packaging machinery and production line automation systems.
This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring frequent travel to customer sites, fault-finding under pressure, and strong technical problem-solving skills. Candidates with prior experience on packaging, filling, or labeling machinery within FMCG or industrial environments will be at a distinct advantage.Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial packaging and process machinery.
- Diagnose and resolve issues within automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and VSDs.
- Program, modify, and optimise PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) to ensure efficient machine operation.
- Read, interpret, and work confidently from electrical and control schematics.
- Carry out machine installations, commissioning, and upgrades, ensuring compliance with electrical standards.
- Support mechanical aspects of installations assembly, alignment, levelling, and system integration.
- Provide detailed service reports and communicate technical feedback to the support and engineering teams.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism while representing the company at client sites.
- Red Seal Trade Test Electrician (Industrial) or Millwright.
- Minimum 35 years experience working with industrial automation or packaging machinery.
- Strong PLC fault-finding and modification skills (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Proven experience with VSDs, sensors, and control systems.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical standards, instrumentation, and automation networks.
- Mechanically competent with hands-on experience in machine assembly and setup.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Excellent communication and client-interaction skills.
- Valid drivers licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel nationally and respond to afterhours breakdowns or urgent call-outs.
