The Role: Senior Control Systems Engineer / Automation EngineerThis role focuses on the full lifecycle of industrial automation projects, from design through to implementation, testing, and commissioning. You will lead technical delivery on complex projects, support on-site breakdowns, and play a critical role in mentoring junior engineers.
Your broad platform expertise and project management skills will ensure quality outcomes across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Bring 10+ years experience in industrial automation and process control engineering
- Design and implement industrial automation systems for varied projects
- Program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related control system hardware
- Develop MES and reporting systems
- Design and implement WMS integrations
- Conduct factory acceptance testing and site commissioning
- Provide breakdown support and onsite assistance
- Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams
- 10+ years experience in automation and process control engineering
- Degree or diploma in Engineering
- Proven experience across Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Aveva, and Inductive Automation platforms
- Proficient in SQL, MS Windows, MS Server, and Ethernet network configurations
- Sector experience in Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Water & Wastewater, and Warehousing & Distribution
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communicator with client-facing confidence
- Team player with mentoring abilities
- Able to manage fast-paced, multi-tasking demands
- Willing to travel and work away from home when required
- Possess a valid drivers license and passport
- Legally eligible to work in South Africa
