Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

• Design and specify network requirements and solutions
• Implement, configure, and maintain LAN and WAN environments
• Assist System Administrators with network configurations
• Plan and report on network capacity
• Coordinate reciprocal network support with third-party vendors
• Contribute to risk mitigation, knowledge sharing, and incident response planning
• Monitor network traffic and update incident response plans

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords via Active Directory
• Install and configure network equipment and server hardware/software
• Administer third-party network and firewall applications
• Maintain systems including virtual hosts, VPNs, routers, and hardware
• Optimize network performance based on business needs
• Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents
• Test network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, latency)
• Update antivirus software and diagnose root causes of issues
• Resolve performance issues and escalate support queries
• Provide remote infrastructure support within SLA
• Monitor capacity thresholds and respond accordingly

• Identify and review software updates, patches, and firmware
• Recommend improvements to server operations
• Stay current with networking best practices and technologies

• Define and document network policies and procedures
• Communicate issues to IT teams and management
• Resolve escalated configuration issues
• Track system lifecycle and recommend replacements
• Document systems and plan new implementations
• Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders

• Support System Administrators with cross-functional tasks
• Liaise professionally with third-party providers
• Advise Maintenance team on UPS and system failures
• Retrieve camera footage for managerial review
• Occasional night-time driving and work

• Ability to carry loads of at least 20 kg
• Work at heights and in confined spaces

• A+ and N+ Certifications
• Linux LPIC-1 OR Equivalent NQF Level 7 certification (e.g., CCNA, ACSA, FortiGate)

• MCSE, MCIPT
• JNCIA
• FortiGate NSE 4

• Proven experience as a Network Administrator
• Experience designing and implementing routing/switching in large-scale, multi-vendor networks (Aruba, Cisco, Juniper)
• Direct experience in network security (e.g., Juniper, FortiGate)
• Hands-on experience with Aruba and Juniper routing/switching
• Wireless network experience (e.g., Unifi)
• Firewall and VPN implementation and troubleshooting
• Experience with Sentinel One and Gytpol

• Windows Server 20162019 experience
• Infrastructure and Linux Server experience
• VMware ESXi experience

• Backup and recovery methodologies
• Deep understanding of internet protocols and standards
• Network automation, telemetry, and SDN
• Network security standards and best practices
• Physical cabling knowledge
• Server infrastructure management
• Strong scripting and troubleshooting skills
