Industrial Engineer (12 Month Yes4Youth Learnership)

1. Assist in driving Kaizen activities and continuous improvement culture across the factory.
2. Monitor and track OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and other manufacturing KPIs.
3. Support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects including process capability studies and lean manufacturing initiatives.
4. Assist in, coordination, and data collection for the plant expansion project, including layout changes, equipment needs, and process flows. Assist in process optimisation efforts across production lines and support data-driven decision making.
5. Compile and distribute Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Production Reports.
6. Conduct data collection and basic analysis for projects related to energy consumption, downtime, and efficiency.
7. Assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other problem-solving methods like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.
8. Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to support aligned improvement goals.
9. Participate in and document Gemba Walks, collecting observations and following up on action items.
10. Support the setup and follow-up of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process audits.
11. Assist in time studies, line balancing, and workflow analysis when required.
12. Maintain accurate documentation and version control of all assigned improvement initiatives.
13. Perform any other data tracking or support tasks as delegated by the Industrial Engineer.

1. Recently completed a relevant Engineering/Manufacturing qualification (preferable Industrial Engineer)
2. Strong maths skills and attention to detail.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
5. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
6. Eagerness to learn and engage in a manufacturing environment.
7. Basic understanding of lean principles, Six Sigma, or process improvement is advantageous but not required.
8. Be located in the greater eThekwini region or KwaZulu-Natal
9. Be willing to commit to a 12 month Yes4Youth internship
