Job Description

Your responsibilities will be the following:

  • Verify the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is approved, available, and applicable.
  • Inspect materials for compliance with specifications.
  • Check equipment calibration.
  • Verify welder qualifications (WPQ).
  • Check joint preparation, cleanliness, root gap, and alignment (fit-up).
  • Ensure proper cleaning between passes
  • Verify dimensions, profile, and size of the weld.
  • Ensure proper identification and tagging of joints.
  • Review non-destructive testing (NDT) results.
  • Monitor Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT).
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports.
  • Perform a visual inspection for defects like cracks, porosity, and undercut.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry codes (e.g., ASME, API, AWS D1.1).
Qualifications
  • Matric
  • Formal Welding qualification
Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role within a precision engineering company
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Understanding welding symbols
  • Knowledge of welding procedures (WPS)
  • Knowledge of welding codes and standards
