Operations Assistant

Main Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the Operations & Logistics manager in managing the operational fleet consisting of forklifts and other handling equipment, including general maintenance;
- Maintain accurate records of forklift operators and effectively administrate their machine tags;
- Provide support to the traders/sections on the market floor and other operational departments;
- Support Operations in facility management, including general housekeeping, cold storage temperature monitoring and fault reporting, food safety programs and forklift monitoring;
- Assist in implementing ad-hoc related projects as delegated by the Operations and Logistics Manager;
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications/Competencies:
- Grade 12 / Matric essential;
- Related higher certification, or tertiary qualification;
- Facilities, Logistics or Operations Management qualification would be an added advantage;
- Valid driving license is required;
- Professional driving permit will be an added advantage;
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment required;
- Team orientated individual;
- Technical skills and willingness to work with ones hands is required;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Oral and written communication skills (in English) required;
- Fluency in isiZulu would be an added advantage;
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
