Mechanical Design Engineer
Efficiently manage and respond to a high volume of correspondence, including multiple daily emails
Perform detailed design and drawing work, including transitioning from conceptual hand sketches to advanced 3D modelling, technical drawings, and stress analysis/simulations
Adhere to ISO requirements for reporting, specifications, and maintaining registers
Assist in the creation and maintenance of parts, BOMs, specifications, and contribute to project costing, quoting, and monitoring for the ERP system
Lead new design projects for customers, from initial enquiry through to the implementation phase, including: Conducting site visits to assess client needs
Preparing costing and quote documentationProcessing orders into the production environment
Creating and issuing detailed designs and drawings
Sourcing non-stock equipment as required
Coordinating with in-house departments, clients, and suppliers throughout the project
Creating parts list schedules (up to 2000 parts per project) and managing up to 500 drawings per design/project
Monitoring day-to-day project progress
Providing timely updates to clients through MS Projects
Occasionally participating in site visits during installation and commissioning phases
Provide specialist mechanical technical support for projects and related equipment via phone or email
Process sales orders, including engineering evaluations, price verification, equipment specifications, drawing/documentation requests, and waybill coordination with production
Skills & Experience: Proficient in MS Excel and MS Projects
Experienced in AutoCAD and Inventor/SolidWorksFamiliarity with ERP systems (Epicor) training will be provided as necessary
Knowledge of Visual Basic or C++ programming (an added advantage)
Highly self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed
Excellent organizational skills
A true team player, while also capable of working independently

Ability to meet deadlines and remain effective under pressure
Willingness to work long hours and overtime when required
Strong problem-solving and innovative design abilities
Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work

Capable of working efficiently, accurately, and with great attention to detail, especially when handling computer data entry and paperwork
Project management experience (an added advantage)
A valid drivers license is required
Must be willing and able to travel locally and internationally
Minimum requirementsB.Eng., BSc, or B-Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (proof of degree and full academic record required)
Preference will be given to candidates with a B.Eng. or BSc degree, though B-Tech technologists will also be considered
While in-house training will be provided, preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience in mechanical design, particularly in conveyor systems and/or material handling
Minimum 5+ years of experience in the field is required
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
