SHEQ, Maintenance and Security Supervisor - Cape Town

Activities:

To Protect Personnel and company property and assets:

  • Ensure that proper access control is maintained.
  • Ensure that no personnel or company property or assets leaves the premises without proper authorized documentation.
  • Ensure that the Risk Control program is adhered to as prescribed to as per the DCM.
  • Report any irregularities to the DCM.
  • Check on closedown procedures, to ensure that buildings and offices are securely locked up.
  • Ensure proper key register is kept and that al keys are securely handed and issued to responsible persons.
  • Update site security manual and adhere to all security measures.
  • Ensure that fire prevention measures are adhered to.
  • Alert DCM of wastage after hours i.e. lights left on, air conditioners, leaking water or other leakages.
  • Report and investigate any irregularity to DCM
  • Perform and report ad hoc investigations when required by DCM.
  • Communicate and report all outside information received from informers to DCM.

Supervision of Contract Security:

  • Inspect and ensure that the guards report for duty on time, neatly dressed and fit for duty.
  • Manage contract security and ensure healthy relationships with all employees.
  • Apply performance management and discipline.
  • Perform daily checks on modular incident report.
  • Advise and implement alternative routes and duration of patrols when required.
  • Ensure that security guards are well trained in their duties with special attention to firefighting procedures.
  • Submit a report on the performance of the contract security to the DCM.
  • To ensure frequent patrols and checks are done on a daily basis after hours and over weekends throughout the premises.
  • Ensure that CCTV room is utilized properly and report all discrepancies to the DCM.
  • To check daily safety and risk control measures.
  • Attend to call-outs after hours when required and notify the DCM immediately i.e. security related, fire, theft and any other emergencies, etc.

Administration of Security Procedures:

  • To evaluate security procedures and systems on a regular basis, identify shortfalls and make recommendations to the DCM.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the CCTV systems on a regular basis and make recommendations.

Health and Safety:

  • Implement and co-ordinate Group Safety Standards, CRM System, OSH Act, Municipality and Building Regulations, SABS Codes and COID Act.
  • Identify and minimize hazardous and potential risk situations through inspections and make recommendations to the DCM.
  • Update Health and Safety Induction Manua regularly.
  • Implement any amendments application to legislation and make recommends to the DCM on approval from Senior Management.
  • Ensure contractors commitments to safety on site by inspecting the areas where work is being performed.
  • Co-ordinate all defects reported by Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Analyse safety statistics and recommend remedial action to DCM.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standard, demarcation and symbolic signs with the involvement of Line Managers.
  • Ensure that personnel are trained to acceptable level of compliance and give feedback to DCM.
  • Co-ordinate all safety representative appointments and safety meetings.
  • Submit Heath and Safety requirements to DCM for budget purposes.

Manage the budget of the Site Services Department:

  • Compilation of year budgets for cost centres.
  • Month to month monitoring of budget variations.
  • Ensure competitive quotations for all projects.
  • Ensure that only the best products are used.

Implementation and maintenance of a preventative maintenance program:

  • Repainting program for buildings, roads and floors.
  • Building renovations and upgrades.
  • Road maintenance.
  • Garden maintenance.
  • Continuous improvements on site to enhance appearance.
  • Electrical installation maintenance.

Administration:

  • Ensure compliance of all registers through regular checks i.e. ladder, portable electric, etc.
  • Report on all investigations concluded with recommendations to the DCM.
  • Submit monthly report on responsible disciplines.
  • Submission and control of operation expenditure and capital expenditure budgets to the DCM.
  • Obtain statistical information regarding picking and checking errors and compile monthly security report for DCM.
  • Record all matters related to security in the contractors occurrence book.
  • Ensure compliance of access control. This includes visitors, staff, suppliers, customers and contractors.
  • Complete contractor permits for all suppliers.
  • Complete maintenance requisition forms and allocate work.
  • Minutes of meetings.
  • EPMS contracts.
  • Complete capital request forms

Knowledge / Experience / Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the OHSACT.
  • Knowledge of the Risk Control Standards.
  • Management of subordinates.
  • Disciplinary procedures.
  • Investigation skills (advantageous).
  • Computer literacy including MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Grade 12
  • A minimum of 3 years experience plus in the Risk Control discipline in a supervisory capacity.
